Birds
The swans, geese, herons and cormorants of the Moselle at Remich.
Most mornings by the Moselle end up being about the birds. Mute swans and their grey cygnets glide past the quays at Remich, greylag geese graze the riverbank and parade along the promenade, and a family of Egyptian geese lines up on a floating platform before the morning swim. Grey herons stand dead still on the lock wall until they don’t, cormorants surface with a fish and vanish again, and mallards and a carrion crow make the odd appearance. Some of these photographs were made in fog or frost, some in the last light of a cold sunset, and the geese have also been patient subjects while I tried out a new long lens. They’re all within a short stretch of the same river.
