Keukenhof

Keukenhof, the great spring garden near Lisse in the Netherlands, on the 29th of April 2025, the day before I went to the Rijksmuseum. It’s famous for tulips, and there are plenty here, in drifts of red, orange, yellow and pink, but the garden had more to offer close up: purple alliums standing like a crowd of lollipops, the curl of a calla lily, towering spikes of echium, a gardener in orange at work among the flowers, a sculpture between the beds, a giant LOVE sign. Between the crowds there were quieter corners, and the colour does most of the work.
